You can do it all @ your Public Library!

Your public library is here to provide you, our customer, with basic free access to current, high-demand, high-interest books, DVDs, music CDs, books on tape, magazines and newspapers. You library system consists of the main library, four branch libraries and the bookmobile.

We just moved the Burnside Branch Library into a new 4,000-square-foot facility on East French Avenue. This branch now offers a meeting room for the community as well as the usual library services.

We try to create a welcoming environment with a friendly, competent staff and strive to introduce children and adults to the joys and rewards of reading and using the public library.

Our “Circle of Literacy” program which partners with school systems in our county, allows kindergarten and first grade students to “ring the literacy bell” in celebration of reading their first book.

We especially try to support students of all learning levels and ages with their formal and informal course of study and self-improvement. We offer story time programs for preschool children, reading clubs for elementary students, teens and adults. We have a free online tutoring service called Homework Help that is on available along with other databases on this website. We partner with the OSHER Institute to offer classes for those 55 and over. Theses classes have included topics such as “The History of the Civil War in Pulaski County,” “Backyard Gardening,” and “Genealogy for Beginners.” We offer new classes every spring and fall. Come by and pick up a schedule.

We have just started “Saturday Matinee at the Library.” At 2:00 PM on the first Saturday of the month, we show a free movie. You can find the movie clues on our calendar on this Web site. We also provide free popcorn, thanks to our Friends of the Library.

Speaking of the Friends, we have a bookstore run by the Friends of the Library which is located in the basement of the main library. It is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week from 10:00 until 4:00.

We offer free Internet service at all of our locations, with Burnside and Nancy branches also offering wireless service.

The Pulaski County Historical Society’s offices are located in the basement of the main library and they offer free genealogy help for those seeking their ancestors.

Read a book! Surf the net! Watch a movie! Take a class! You can do it all @your Public Library.
